Trusting in Him May Not Be What You Think

Making the decision to walk in faith has eluded many. So much that some have gone years without taking that first precarious step. I can’t do it. I can’t let go. Making the decision can be a fearful one, but once on the other side of true faith, you feel and experience the real freedom. For some, just the word Faith springs a vulnerability and a fear. The thought of taking a chance can be scary. What if He doesn’t catch me? Sometimes it’s the fear that we hold onto. Fear can be comforting. I don’t want to let go. I’m too afraid. What if He lets me fall?

Where do you turn in times of stress? What has been your comfort? What has “held you up” in times of trouble? Who or what do you run to?

Letting go of the rail and feeling the wind blow all around you, is the only way to experience His wings of comfort holding you up and in. Knowing that there is nothing to save you but Him, is a blessed place to be. It’s a place of comfort. When you can feel His wings closing in tighter around you as you walk in faith is freeing. Feeling safe in His arms is like no other comfort zone; like no other coping mechanism. It’s knowing a sweet truth. Truth that transcends our earthly understanding and places us in a divine place where we get to experience His amazing love as He meets us in our fear, pain or sorrow. Allowing Him full access and trusting Him is to learn that He is trustworthy and true.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go”. Joshua 1:9

Those who have experienced this love and freedom proclaim, “For you LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” and “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” and still, “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.”

Getting to experience the abundant life that God has to offer is getting to experience walking free and light; the life that He promises to us in His word. Letting go and trusting Him with the things we hold most dear can be life-changing. Give it to Him. Experience Him. And Live.
